Philosophy and Ayurved

All applied Indian sciences have a base of philosophy and Ayurved is also an important Indian science.

The Vedas are regarded as the oldest written records of knowledge.

They are Rugveda, Yajurveda, Atharva Veda and Sama Veda.

The Rugveda is the oldest among them all. Though all the Vedas contain references of Ayurdic concepts the Atharva Veda contains more of these and so Ayurveda is considered to be an upaveda of Atharva Veda which had been written around 1200 B.C.

Ayurveda accepts the Vedic view that the individual and universe are identical and Man is the miniature of nature.

Ayurveda is concerned with theories of evolution and of the

creation of universe. The main contribution to Ayurveda is through Vedic systems of which Sankhya, Yoga and Nyaya ,Vaisheshikaare the most important.

These Vedas were thought to be exposed by God Brahma. A vivid description of all the metaphysical matters such as soul, spirit, consciousness and subconscious state is available in philosophy especially Indian philosophy from which every medical man interested in the study of mind can take full advantage.

Charak and Sushruta have explained not only the bodily disorders but also the psychosomatic constitution during health and disease.

Therefore by studying deeply the Indian philosophy it may be

possible to understand the psychosomatic problems of medical sciences and the ways by which one could solve these problemsby making philosophical approach.

Sankhya philosophy greatly influenced Indian Medicine.

Use of Modern technology in ancient Ayurveda science

If we want to achieve great success Ayurveda and Technology these two different streams must go hand in hand
As a researcher in Ayurveda we always have some questions in our mind , like Why to use Modern technology in ancient Ayurveda science? Or how exactly it should be used.  .
To have answers of these questions we must do careful critical and unbiased study. Ayurveda is an ancient science.
Definition of science is ---
Science is the knowledge gained by systematic study and the Scientist i.e. who is an expert in science applies the science in a scientific way i.e. careful and accurate way. Ayurveda is a science of life. Ayurveda adds years to life and life to years.
In Sushrut Samhita Chikitsa sthan, Sushrutacharya  says that,
“SatataAdhyanama Vadaha Paratantra ava lokanama Tadvidya  Acharyaseva Cha Buddhi Medhakaro Ganaha ||” Su.Chi. 28
Continuous study, exchange of thoughts, knowledge of other applied sciences supportive to Ayurveda and dialogue with guru are the means to enhance the intellect and understanding. One should always use the knowledge of other applied sciences to understand and to elaborate the Ayurvedic concepts.                                                                                                            In the present era of modern civilisation most of us have accepted the modern lifestyle. Revolution in the field of technology has changed the scenario in almost every field. Modern scientists used this technology to enrich medical science. This is one of the reasons of its global acceptance.
Ayurvedic scholars should provide the knowledge of Ayurveda in the form of language of modern science. There is a need of critical and unbiased study. Efforts should be taken to make it demonstrable and experimental.
The basic principles of Ayurveda are partially based on the Pratyksha Praman.
Charak Samhita says that,        “Pratyksham Hi Alpam Analpam Apratyaksham Asti.||”
Other Pramanas are also helpful in Ayurvedic Research methodology but with the help of modern technology we can make concepts of Ayurveda widely known and appreciable by scientist from all over the world.

Thank you !!!
